The Pillars of Islam

Shahadah

Shahadah

As Muslims we all believe that there is only one God, and that Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) is His Final Prophet and Messenger sent down for the entirety of Mankind.

FASTING

FASTING

The month of Ramadan is the 9th Month of the Islamic Calendar. During this month Muslims are required to fast from Dawn until Sunset. The rewards of actions during this month are multiplied and within it lies the Laylatul Qadr (the night of Power), a night that Allah mentions in the Qur’an is better than 1,000 months!

ALMSGIVING

ZAKAT

It is compulsory for every Muslim who meets the criteria to pay 2.5% of their wealth every lunar year to those in need in order to help purify our wealth.

PILGRIMAGE

Musilms are obligated to perform the Hajj at least once in their lifetime if they are healthy and have the financial means to do so. The Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) says that the reward for an accepted Hajj is none other than Paradise.

PRAYER

PRAYER

As Muslims, we are obligated to pray to Allah SWT 5 times a day. The prayer was a gift that was given to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) and his followers on the divine journey of Mi’raj.

The five prayers that a Muslim must pray are:

  1. Fajr – Prayed at dawn.
  2. Dhur – Prayed after the sun has reached its highest point.
  3. Asr – Prayed in the afternoon when the shadow of an object is twice of its size.
  4. Maghrib – Prayed at sunset.
  5. Isha – Prayed when the redness in the sky disappears.
